IP68 certified. 4G data speeds. 1.7GHz Octa-core processor, 4.5" HD display, Gorilla Glass 3. NO LONGER AVAILABLE

The Aspera R6. Tough as nails. Blistering fast 4G. Smarter than you. The truly worthy successor to our CHOICE magazine August 2014 “Rugged/Tradie Champion” R5.

Our flagship 4G smartphone retains the classic, truly ruggedised shock-resistant Aspera outer body, adds Gorilla Glass 3 for screen durability, and touch keys for easy access controls. Even tougher than previous Aspera rugged devices, the R6 is certified IP68 meaning it is entirely waterproof, beyond 1 metre for up to 30 minutes and completely dust resistant.

Aspera R6 makes no compromises on performance; sporting an octa-core 1.7GHz processor, dual-band WiFi capability and exceptionally fast 4G data speeds for high definition audio and video streaming on-the-go. The 1200 x 720 high definition display is just what you need to view the sharp-as-life photographs and videos you’ll be taking with the R6’s 13-megapixel rear camera.

Featuring Google’s Android mobile operating system (v4.4.4 KitKat) the Aspera R6 is ready to take on any task you throw it at, or even throw at it; wherever you are, whatever you are doing, whatever the conditions.

Hi Aspera Team
Thought I'd give you some feedback since I've had the R6 for a couple of weeks now; thought I'd let you know what I think of it so far.

It's great. I've never been a person who has to have the biggest & best mobile on the market.

The R6 has converted me from just needing a phone to make & receive calls to someone who carries the R6 with me everywhere.

I'm not overly tech savvy but found it easy to use, which is what I was concerned about. It is tough & robust, which was another reason I bought the R6.

The only drawback is that it's on the heavy side.

I love it & would recommend it to anyone who needs a tough easy to use phone.

What Australian mobile networks is the Aspera R6 compatible with?

Aspera's 4G flagship R6 smartphone is compatible with all Australian 3G and 4G* cellular networks. As with Aspera R5, R6's premium reception and blistering 4G performance is most at home on Telstra's mobile network.

*Please check with your provider for 4G coverage and frequencies. R6 does not support 700MHz / Band 28 - this can present limited 4G coverage and speeds on networks such has Optus', outside of metropolitan areas

I cannot access the internet using mobile data on my new Aspera R6

We have received numerous support questions, largely from Optus/ Amaysim/ TPG customers who have installed their SIM in their new R6, but cannot access the internet using their mobile data plan. To resolve this problem go to Settings - More - Mobile Networks - Access Point Names - then select your provider name among those listed. If the problem persists please refer to this link and update your mobile network settings:

What is the most recent version of Android available for my Aspera R6?

The most up-to-date version of Google's Android operating system for Aspera R6 is v4.4.4 (a.k.a. KitKat). There are no immediate plans for an operating system update for R6.

My on-screen keys seem out of alignment to where I touch them - I have to touch to one side of the key

All modern smartphones with on-screen keyboards contain a multitude of sensors. The on-screen keyboard is reliant on your handset's "G-sensor" to ensure the keys are aligned to exactly where you touch them. If you find keys are not responding when you touch them centre-on, and you need to touch to one side or another, it's time to calibrate your handset's G-sensor:
1. Open "Settings" on your handset
2. Locate and tap "Display"
3. Locate and tap "G-Sensor calibration" (second item from the very bottom)
4. Holding your handset horizontally, centre both green bubbles
5. Once both green bubbles are centred, tap "Calibrate"

Do not move the handset whilst the calibration is in progress.

During the calibration process, the two green bubbles will move. You must keep the handset steady during this process or the calibration will be off. After the bubbles return to centre and stop moving, the calibration process is complete. Test your touch screen out and see if whatever problem you were experiencing has been resolved. If not, try another recalibration.
